NSW Wheelchair Rugby League Announces New Board and Exciting Plans for 2025

NSW Wheelchair Rugby League (NSW WRL) is proud to announce the appointment of its new board, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the sport.

With a strong vision and fresh leadership, NSW WRL is committed to expanding opportunities, increasing inclusivity and elevating the profile of Wheelchair Rugby League across New South Wales.

New Board Appointments

The 2025 NSW WRL Board comprises experienced leaders dedicated to driving the game forward:

● Chairman: Brad Turnbull
● Secretary: Aphrodite Bottcher
● Board Members: Jim Taggart, Neil Stanley, Ralph Hasna, Edie George & Rachel Bowles
● NRL Wheelchair Representative: Anna Fitzgerald
● NSW Rugby League Representative: Gavin Lawrence

Strengthening Competition & Growth

In addition to the new board, NSW WRL has established a Competition Committee, led by Chairman Ralph Hasna, to enhance the structure and delivery of competitions. The committee will focus on creating better pathways for players, clubs and the wider rugby league community to engage with the sport.

A Bold New Vision for the Future

The newly appointed leadership team is focused on: – Expanding participation across all levels of competition – Building strategic partnerships with NRL clubs and community organisations – Enhancing visibility and awareness of Wheelchair Rugby League – Strengthening pathways for players to progress to elite representation

With the 2025 season set to kick off in March, NSW WRL is preparing for a landmark year filled with thrilling competition, new community initiatives, and greater recognition for the sport. This is an incredible opportunity for players, supporters, and partners to be part of the continued growth of Wheelchair Rugby League.

Volunteer Opportunities 2025

NSW Wheelchair Rugby League is also seeking passionate individuals to join our team in key volunteer roles. We are currently looking for a Secretary for the Competition Committee to assist with the administration and coordination of the committee. Additionally, we are seeking a Volunteer Social Media Manager to help grow our online presence and engage with our community.

We are also seeking a highly motivated Volunteer Game Day Operations Manager, who will be responsible for overseeing game day logistics, coordinating volunteers, and ensuring the smooth running of events.
